Process of making Killia whiskey
Whiskey making begins with malting, where grains like barley are soaked, germinated, and dried to convert starches to sugars. The grains are then mashed by mixing with hot water to create a sugary liquid called wort. Fermentation follows, with yeast added to the wort to produce alcohol, resulting in a “wash.” The wash undergoes distillation, typically twice, to concentrate the alcohol and remove impurities. Finally, the spirit is aged in oak barrels to develop its flavor before being bottled for sale.
